We would like to recognize our 8th Grade Class of 2021.

Pilamaya ye, (thank you), to all our parents/guardians for your continued support through-out our challenging, academic year!

Grades K-5 will be participating in an Elementary Track & Field day tomorrow, May 12th at 1 pm CST. Families are welcome to join us at the football field to enjoy the day and watch your child compete!

Kyle Chase visited with the Wakpala 6-8th grade students today. Kyle was born in Ft Yates ND and graduated in 2008 from Mobridge HS. He is an enrolled member of the Cheyenne River Sioux Tribe and is currently the Deputy Chief of Staff for U.S. Senator Mike Rounds. Kyle shared his journey and experiences as well as the struggles he encountered while working toward his goals. Kyle’s wife Alyssa and daughter Saylor also made the trip from Washington DC.

Yesterday, students age 16 & 17 were sent home with a letter regarding availability of the COVID-19 vaccine. The letter is attached. If you have any questions, please contact the School Nurse at 605-845-3040 xt 112

This week, students are undergoing MAPS testing. In the interest of everyone's success, please make sure your child is well rested and arrives on-time.

Our middle school track schedule is as follows:
• April 8 - Pierre - 3:30 CST
• April 15 - Gettysburg - 12:00 CST
• April 30 - Mobridge - 2:00 CST
• May 6 - Sully Buttes - TBD

13 students, 1st - 8th grade, competed in a Spelling Bee in McIntosh on Wednesday, March 24th. Thank you to everyone who participated & everyone who attended. Congratulations, participants, on a job well done!

Wakpala has announced it's Spring Basketball League schedule! Spectators are welcome to attend games held at the Wakpala Public School but must wear masks and space whenever possible. Concessions will be available at the home games as well.

Keep in mind, each school might be different on their Covid rules regarding spectators. If you are unsure of their policies, it may be best to reach out to them before you travel.
