Read Across America
Good listening and thinking skills were part of Mrs. Schlomer's kindergarten class and Mrs. Griewski's third grade class as the grades teamed up to celebrate "Read Across America" day. The peers showed wonderful listening skills as Mrs. Schlomer read The Three Little Pigs and The True Story of the Three Little Pigs (Wolf's side of the story). The students were challenged to make a sturdy house from popsicle sticks, pipe cleaners and rubber bands. The "houses" had to withstand being blown over by the big bad wolf- the hairdryer. As each group finished, Mrs. Schlomer brought the dreaded "Wolf", to test the strength of each house. Students howled with laughter as some got blown away and some got blown apart. However, there was also some admiration as a few houses only lost some 'siding', and three houses were sturdy enough to not be blown down.
